The main purpose of the Heli-Ski US Association is to set the highest level of operation standards and protocols for its members. HSUS has developed a document, Heli Operations Safety Procedures (HSOP) now in its 7th edition. This important document is intended to provide the helicopter pilot, helicopter operator, outfitter and guide with an introduction to the fundamentals of helicopter skiing operations, to help establish standard practices within the helicopter skiing industry, to provide a framework for continuing development of training and safety standards and to promote safety by identification of best practices in the industry.
